Happy 4th anniversary to Eddy and me!!!!
Who would have ever thought we would make it four years? Kidding. I hope you all thought we would. I will admit that if anyone had told me four years ago today that I would have infant triplets and a three year old I would have thought they were on crack( or maybe LSD, that being more
trippy and all). I am also fairly certain that Eddy would have fled somewhere across the cheddar-curtain (WI in case you were unaware) or across the ocean. Is it quite a lot to take in
after all. It has been four years filled with many amazing changes, some of which have been stressful, but overall I don't think I would change anything. Life has a funny way of working out. Sometimes you are given something you never knew you wanted or needed, and then there it is and you can't imagine your life without it. I hope we have many more wonderful years together.
Thanks to all my wonderful bridesmaids who stood with me that day: Bridget (my sister), Lesley,
Gita, and Elizabeth. I am glad to have you all in my life.
Part 2 of this post deals with my recent trip to Trader Joe's with Noel.
So last Monday morning Eddy had taken the day off and I decided to make a quick escape and go get a few things from the new Trader Joe's which finally opened by us in
Woodbury. I LOVE
TJ's and used to shop there all the time when we lived in Chicago.
Anyhoo...
I took Noel with me so Eddy wouldn't have to keep 4 other beings alive in my absence and frankly, Noel is the most likely to totally lose it and make you want to hit the bottle; the liquor bottle. I decided to try him in the Baby Bjorn as he loves to be held and he was quite pleased with that decision. He was gleefully kicking and making happy noises throughout the store. People were smiling at us and it made my day.
Then some random 40-something woman comes up to me and says, "
Where'd you get him?". I was like, "excuse me", thinking she had said, "them", and not "him" meaning something in my cart looked good. Then it clicked with me what was happening. She said, "yeah, where did you adopt him from?". I was a little taken aback and didn't quite know how to answer. I said something to the effect of, "my husband and I made him". She then realized what an ass she made of herself and started fumbling for words, "oh, my friends adopted a baby from China,
yada yada yada." I just walked away at that point, somewhat offended.
I mean, who the hell cares if he was adopted? Do you really ask a complete stranger where they got their baby? I realize that he looks just like Eddy (which I love) but it is not as if we are the first inter-racial couple ever to reproduce. The face of the world is changing and people are making half-breeds all the time. I can say that lovingly! It certainly makes for a good story.
