Quinn's first violin concert
4 words:
CUTEST FREAKING THING EVER!
This past Sunday Quinn had his first public performance at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music. All of the Suzuki string students have regular performances (about 2-3 times a year) to get them accustomed to performing in front of people and this was Quinn's first opportunity to get up in front of a crowd. Can I tell you how excited he was?
On Saturday (the day before the concert) in his group class they were practicing going through their performances. He gets up in front, does his bow, song, final bow, everyone starts clapping, and he gets this huge grin on his face and starts shouting, "thank you, thank you everyone" and doesn't want to get off the stage. Talk about a ham! I have no idea where that came from- what 3 year old does that? I was a little worried he wouldn't get off the big stage on Sunday.
However, it went very well. He was the third performer, got up there with the world's smallest violin (1/32), took a beautiful bow, his teacher helped him place his violin properly, she played the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel", he had piano accompaniment, and his big job was to pluck the 2 "pop" notes in the song. He did it perfectly, placed his violin in resting position, and took a huge bow. You could tell he was so proud of himself and I was almost balling because it was the most touching thing ever. He totally brought down the house and loved the fact that everyone was clapping for him. He is the shortest and youngest student that was performing so I am sure that helped the cuteness factor, but several people commented to me that he was such a natural and so charismatic on stage. It made me feel so proud too.
I hope to eventually post the video but our Mac be illin' and we don't know what is going on. Just take my word on it darn it, it was adorable!
